Shaking Table Tests of Seismic Response of Multi-Segment Utility Tunnels in a Layered Liquefiable Site

Damage to underground structures caused by liquefaction is one of the important types hazards in field geotechnical engineering. Utility tunnels are lifeline projects cities. To ensure sustainable and safe operation utility over a design life 100 years, this paper investigates seismic response pattern liquefied site. In paper, shaking table tests were carried out on tunnel layered liquefiable Based test data, distribution law acceleration pore pressure model deformation soil analyzed first. Then soil-structure interaction, strain uplift structure investigated. The results show that sand layers under strong earthquakes, resulting energy loss. upper clay layer attenuated isolation soil. affects propagation acceleration, which decays faster beneath for same height. process water growth accumulation ratio curve Arias intensity significantly correlated. During test, phenomenon boil appeared, cracks appeared ground surface developed continuously. lifted action excess pressure. There vertical horizontal displacement differences at joints. stratigraphic junction mainly influenced bending moment, large shear transverse section. connection between partition wall top slab largest weak position structure, followed side walls slab, bottom have smaller strain. provide insights into dynamic properties soils sites.
